New homes in Takeley

New homes in Takeley

Welcome to Takeley. This quaint countryside village in Uttlesford is a brief interruption to the patchwork farmland of west Essex. The neighbourhood shops are just a short stroll down Parsonage Road, and the historic market town of Bishop’s Stortford is a stone’s throw away. You’ll find home ideal for a leisurely weekend, plus perfect for the week’s commute – five minutes from Stansted Airport’s train station, and under an hour into central London.

This development falls under the administration of Essex County Council and Uttlesford District Council.

In Takeley, leisure and life move at the pace you pick. Mornings can start slowly, with sunrise strolls in countryside surroundings. A jaunt into the village could take you for a brew and pastry at Barista Sista, a local mobile coffee stand. To get the legs pumping, Hatfield Forest is a short drive away and perfect to spend a splash of the day around nature.

Pick up the pace and head into Bishop’s Stortford for lunch, where Potter Street is packed with pubs, cafés, restaurants, and shops. Why not Mediterranean mezze at Zeyna, or family dining under the high Drill Hall roof of Pircio? Town Park is great for family fun – let them loose for endless entertainment at the kid’s play area, plus look out for summer fun fairs.

With Stansted around the corner, you could be stood on London Bridge in a little over an hour – thanks to the Stansted Express – or jetting off for a city break in the sun.

Roseacres Primary School is just half a mile away from home, and only one right turn and one left turn from the neighbourhood entrance so you can’t get lost even if the school run comes before your morning coffee. Takeley also has a day nursery, pre-school, and childcare agency within walking distance – but not so close that you can still hear the tantrums.

Secondary Schools can be found in Bishop’s Stortford and Great Dunmow, a little over ten minutes’ drive away. And when they’re ready to head out into the world themselves, enormous rucksacks in tow, regular local bus routes serve both towns.

There’s a choice of colleges for further education, including Arthur Findlay, Bishop’s Stortford, and Stansted Airport colleges within a few miles. Further afield, a reasonable commute will find universities in Chelmsford, Harlow, London, and Cambridge.

Stansted. Harlow. Bishop’s Stortford. They’re all the places to be, and you can get to them all on the bus from Garnetts bus stop – mere minutes from home.

Looking beyond local? Stansted really is your one-stop-shop for getting out of town. One of Britain’s busiest airports, you’ll wish the list of flights was shorter to make your summer holiday pick easier. The attached train station provides rail routes across the country, including a departure for London Liverpool Street every 15 minutes, taking a little over half an hour.

Motorists are within easy reach of the A120 and M11, bringing the wider county and country to your doorstep.

The village has a shop for popping to – the keeper of community convenience – as well as a local pub, a hardware shop, and a few takeaways.

Bishop’s Stortford is perfectly blended to adapt to the shopper’s needs. If you’ve got a list and want to get your head down and fill the car boot as quickly as you can, you’ll find all the familiar names you’re looking for along the town’s main retail streets. But if you’re in the mood for a mooch, you can discover some locally adored independents popping up in the narrow passages and arcades.

The town has a great reputation for food too – No. 14 is award winning for its interior design, and the food follows suit. There’s also a thriving nightlife, cafés covering a variety of vibes, and riverside restaurants for those special occasions.

Repayment mortgage
What's this?
If you opt for a repayment mortgage, you will need to make monthly payments to your mortgage lender, which consist of a portion of the amount you originally borrowed (sometimes called the ‘capital balance’), as well as any interested that has been incurred on your loan.
Interest only mortgage
What's this?
Choosing an interest-only mortgage means that you will only need to make monthly payments towards the interest on the amount you originally borrowed. With this type of loan, you don’t need to repay any of the capital balance (the amount you borrowed to buy your home), for the duration of the interest only period.
